Hi I am Alex,

I have been teaching swimming for over 18 years and have extensive experience as a swimming coach, focusing on safety and skill development for students of all levels. As a certified lifeguard in Hong Kong and a holder of multiple safety certifications, including the Pool Lifeguard Award (Hong Kong), Red Cross First Aid & CPR – AED Level C, and a Certificate in Aquatic First Aid, I firmly believe that safety is paramount in swimming education.

While many of my students quickly meet their parents; expectations by swimming 25 meters using both the breaststroke and freestyle, I insist on teaching essential self-rescue skills, such as treading water and signalling for help in deep water. Many parents appreciate this additional focus, as it ensures their child’s overall safety in the water. A single negative experience, such as a near-drowning incident, can shatter a child’s confidence and a parent’s trust. This is why I prioritize both skill development and safety in my lessons.

In addition to my swimming expertise, I bring over 20 years of experience teaching English to young children. This background has honed my communication skills, allowing me to employ simple and
effective methods to explain concepts and correct students’ swimming techniques. After each lesson, I provide parents with feedback to keep them updated on their child’s progress. My patience and adaptability, developed through years of teaching young kids, help me create a positive, engaging learning environment, especially when working with students who may be hesitant or playful.
