Safety Standards That Protect
These requirements must be met for approval as an Aquastar host. They exist to protect every child, instructor, and your property.
Safety Fencing
- Minimum 4-foot (1.2m) high fence surrounding pool area
- Self-closing, self-latching gate
- Latch must be at least 54 inches (1.4m) from ground
- No gaps larger than 4 inches (10cm)
- Fence must be in good repair with no damage
Water Quality
- pH level between 7.2 and 7.6
- Free chlorine: 1-3 ppm
- Total alkalinity: 80-120 ppm
- Water must be clear and free of algae
- Functional filtration system
Pool Dimensions
- Minimum length: 20 feet (6m)
- Minimum width: 10 feet (3m)
- Minimum depth: 3 feet (0.9m)
- Maximum depth: 8 feet (2.4m) for lessons
- Clear swimming area without obstructions
Water Temperature
- Swim lessons: 26-29°C (79-84°F)
- Rehab sessions: 28-30°C (82-86°F)
- Party hosting: 24-28°C (75-82°F)
- Functional heating system (for year-round hosting)
- Temperature must be maintained consistently
Access & Facilities
- Safe, clear pathway to pool area
- Non-slip decking around pool
- Restroom access (house or portable)
- Emergency equipment accessible
- Outdoor lighting (for evening sessions)
Legal Compliance
- Compliance with local pool enclosure bylaws
- Valid homeowner's insurance
- Permission to use property for hosting
- No outstanding bylaw violations
- Pool registered with municipality (if required)
