How many students can be taught at once in a lesson?

Answer:

Private, one-on-one swimming lessons are available for reservation on AQUA S.T.A.R. Add an additional swimmer to your booking and you’ll be able to have private lessons with a friend. No group of three or more students, no matter how evenly divided the lesson time is, will be accepted for swimming lessons.

When is it optimal to divide my lesson?

Answer:

Split swimming classes are ideal for groups of swimmers with varying skill levels, and you can tailor the course by spending more time with one student or less time with another.

What should I bring to my swimming class?

Answer:

Bring your swimsuit, a towel, and some goggles to every class. If you have long hair, you may also want to bring a swim hat or hair ties in case you want to wash it after your class. Glass, food, and drink are often not allowed on pool decks, so it’s best to avoid carrying any of these with you.

To what extent do swimming lessons need a qualified instructor?

Answer:

All AQUA S.T.A.R. swimming instructors are required to have either Canadian Red Cross or Lifesaving Society certification in addition to substantial experience teaching swimming for pay. The candidate must also submit to and successfully complete a standard industry background check to confirm they do not have any serious criminal convictions on their record.

Where can I find the AquaSTAR contact information?

Answer:

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any more questions after reviewing our “questions – parents & client” section. Unfortunately, we cannot accept cancellations of lessons through email or phone. To cancel, you must access your account on the website and do it there.

Can I contact someone by phone if I have questions?

Answer:

We do not have a general information phone line, but clients and instructors are given a phone number to contact if they need quick help during a lesson. This ensures that our phone line is only used for very pressing matters. If you have a question that isn’t addressed in this FAQ, please fill out our contact form and we will respond to you as soon as possible through email.

Is it mandatory for me to be there during my child's swimming lesson?

Answer:

Yes, a responsible adult must accompany a minor at all times. A parent or legal guardian must be present at all times during swimming lessons for children under the age of 16.

If I am late to my lesson, what can I expect?

Answer:

If you’re going to be late for a lesson, your instructor will try to get in touch with you via the private chatroom we’ve made available. Unless you tell them otherwise, they will wait for you for the whole hour. Even if you’re late for a lesson, you may still use the time allotted for it. However, if you come late, your lesson time will not be extended.

In case you are lost or can't locate your instructor, here's what to do.

Answer:

If your instructor is unable to locate you at the scheduled lesson time, they will make contact with you through the private chatroom offered by AQUA S.T.A.R. and direct you to the correct location. Get in touch with AQUA S.T.A.R. support if you don’t hear from them, and we’ll see what we can do.

Can you tell me what to do if my instructor is late?

Answer:

You may chill out in the waiting area and keep an eye out for your instructor if you get there early for your class.

Check your private chatroom if it is beyond the start time of your lesson to see whether your instructor has tried to reach you. If for any reason your instructor does not show up, please let us know so that we may look into the matter. If this is the case, your lesson will be rescheduled and all fees already paid will be refunded to you.

Is a report card provided?

Answer:

Most instructors will provide students immediate responses throughout the lesson and deliver a brief recap at the conclusion of each lesson. Due to the lack of lesson sets, instructors are not obligated to provide written reports on students’ progress after a certain amount of lesson time has passed. Rather, you and your instructor may talk on the frequency and content of status updates in the private chatroom.

Updates on student progress may be sent through text message in the private chatroom, electronic mail, by your instructors.

Is there any way to help students who have special requirements for their physical or mental health?

Answer:

Many of the AQUA S.T.A.R. professionals have previous experience working with kids that need specialized education. In most cases, they will first consult with you to determine your child’s unique requirements before customizing a lesson plan with realistic sub-goals. This makes it easier for each swimmer to achieve their goals and fosters an atmosphere conducive to learning.

Where can I look for instructors that are familiar with working with students with special needs?

Answer:

You may narrow down your search for a suitable instructor by selecting whether they have experience working with children, adults, or students with special needs.

In their profiles, many instructors include any training or prior experience working with students who have special needs, whether they medical or otherwise.

Examples in this category include:

  • Behavior Modification in Aquatic Settings for Children on the Autism Spectrum

  • Methods to help anxious or fearful kids relax

  • Those with hearing impairments may learn American Sign Language.

  • Expertise in instructing kids who have suffered vision loss

Because of factors like location or accessibility, not every swimming facility is ideal for every swimmer. If you have any queries about whether a certain instructor or facility can accommodate you, please contact us.

What additional kinds of aquatic services do you offer?

Answer:

We at AQUA S.T.A.R. can accommodate a wide variety of unique requests, including the ones detailed below:

  • Protection from drowning; provision of lifeguards
  • Exercises in the Water: Aquafit
  • Festivities commemorating the birthday of a particular person

Weather Conditions and Pool temperature

Answer:

Our instructor will not risk driving to your place to teach if the weather is dangerous, such as when there is a lot of snow or water. If bad weather prevents you from taking your lesson, we’ll happily refund your money. If you must use an outdoor pool, ensure that it is open and that the weather is dry and mild.

The optimal temperature for a swimming pool is between 82 and 88 degrees Fahrenheit (27 and 31 degrees Celsius). If it’s below that, or if it’s too cold, our instructor may refuse to teach us since the swimmer won’t be able to focus on the lesson without worrying about hypothermia. Before scheduling an appointment via our website, please check the water temperature.
